Developing physical literacy in schools

Norwich Union elevating:athletics helps schoolchildren from 5 - 16 years develop their physical literacy through teaching the core skills involved in co-ordination; running, jumping and throwing.

Working in partnership with NASUWT — the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers — and in conjunction with a nationwide teacher training programme run by UK Athletics, we support teachers in exploring a variety of teaching styles, encouraging inclusive pupil-focused lessons with maximum pupil participation.

Elevating:athletics has been created to motivate pupils in every activity by encouraging the inclusion of all pupils regardless of ability. It has been designed to shift the focus away from winning and losing, and towards the improvement of a pupil's personal performance, encouraging each pupil to set personal goals to improve his or her own performance.
