Empowering teenage girls to enjoy more sport

Working alongside the Youth Sport Trust and Dame Kelly Holmes in her role as National School Sport Champion, Norwich Union GirlsActive aims to empower teenage girls to enjoy more sporting activity on their own terms.

Research, conducted by Norwich Union*, indicates that where levels of boys' participation in sport remain steady throughout secondary school, girls are disengaging with physical activity by the ages of 16 and are five times more likely to do no sport at 16 than at age 12. Norwich Union GirlsActive aims to inspire 13 to 16 year old girls and their teachers to identify the issues surrounding girls' participation in sport. The events also seek to empower girls to take the lead in encouraging their peers at school to get more active, and to stay active.
